Lifting tiles, deteriorated grout and perished silicone are surface problems, and surface problems get repaired. Once water has reached the joists or bearers, the answer changes. A moisture meter tells us which one we’re dealing with inside a few minutes.

or just dated?
These get confused constantly. A bathroom with beige tiles and an old vanity that holds water perfectly well isn’t a plumbing job, and no repair will change how it looks. Waterproofing that still holds doesn’t need replacing to suit new tiles.

What a Proper Reseal involves: Step by Step
Grout is porous. Water passes straight through it, which is how it reaches a failed membrane in the first place. Any product painted over the top of existing grout sits on a surface that still absorbs water, and that’s why those jobs come back.
Our shower repairs work deals with the grout itself:
- Grind out all the old grout rather than sealing over it
- Clean out the voids around the strip drain, the long, narrow floor drain running along one edge of the shower
- Seal those voids with epoxy, which is where most of the time on site goes
- Lay the floor with epoxy grout, a non-porous grout that doesn’t absorb water the way cement-based grout does
- Regrout and seal the walls to the same standard
