Shower Leaks Newcastle - Find and Fix the Source Fast
Why Locals Call Us First for Leaks
"I've been looking for this leak for about 18 months and have had 6 or 7 tradesmen here to try and locate it. In an hour, you've found it"
How We Locate a Shower Leak Without Lifting the Tiles
Shower leaks are the most common hidden leak our team is called out to across Newcastle. The source is rarely obvious from looking at the shower itself, which is why an accurate diagnosis matters before any repair scope is quoted.
The video covers the warning signs of waterproofing failure, including water damage on exterior walls and the void areas around strip drains, and explains why a regrind and reseal is usually the right next step rather than lifting the tiles.
The signs of a failing shower are easy to miss until water reaches a wall or ceiling. The video shows what our team looks for and how the leak is located before any tiles come up.
How do I know my shower is leaking?
Not sure if that damp patch or smell is a problem? Common signs include:
- Mould or musty odours
- Peeling paint or bubbling walls
- Water pooling outside your shower
- Soft or discoloured grout lines
Peeling paint, mould or pooling water usually points to failed waterproofing rather than a loose fitting. Our shower repair service covers grout lines, seals, waterproofing and shower bases across Newcastle.
Our Leak Detection Process
Our team uses professional leak detection tools to find the exact source without breaking tiles or guessing.
We use moisture meters and special testing equipment to locate where water is escaping. This means we fix only what’s needed, saving you time and money.
Once we find the source, we reseal and waterproof the area using professional-grade materials. Where the grout lines are the point of failure, tile regrouting is carried out at the same time so the repair holds.
Why fix a shower leak quickly?
Ignoring a leak can cause:
- Mould and health risks

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my shower is leaking?
Look out for damp walls, peeling paint, mould, or water pooling outside the shower. You might also notice a musty smell or damaged skirting boards. If you suspect a leak, get it checked ASAP to avoid costly water damage.
What causes a leaking shower?
Leaking showers are caused by failed waterproofing, cracked grout or tiles, damaged seals, or leaking pipes behind the wall. We’ll inspect the area to find the exact cause before any repairs are done.
Can I fix a leaking shower myself?
Small issues like resealing can be done yourself, but if the leak is caused by plumbing or waterproofing damage, it’s best left to a licensed plumber. DIY fixes only mask the problem and can lead to bigger issues later.
How much does it cost to fix a leaking shower?
Costs vary depending on what’s causing the leak. We’ll inspect your shower and provide a fixed price quote so you know exactly what to expect.
Do plumbers repair shower waterproofing?
Yes, we can repair or replace failed waterproofing membranes, grout, or seals as part of the leak repair process to make your shower watertight again.
Can a leaking shower cause structural damage?
Yes, if left untreated, water can seep into the walls and floors and cause timber rot, mould, or weakened structures. Always get leaks fixed as soon as possible.
